Robert F. Duncan is the Managing Member of the Firm’s Lexington, Kentucky, office. He is the Assistant Leader of the Firm's Industrial, Environmental and Complex Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Duncan's practice involves a wide variety of civil litigation with concentration on matters pertaining to the defense of doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers in medical professional liability actions, matters involving complex insurance issues and insurance bad faith, products liability and construction. He also regularly serves as a mediator in civil litigation matters.
Mr. Duncan is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and all state and federal courts within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He is a member of the Kentucky and Fayette County Bar Associations, The Defense Research Institute and the Kentucky Defense Council (former member of the Board of Directors). Mr. Duncan is a frequent author and lecturer on topics pertaining to medical professional liability and insurance.
In 1980, Mr. Duncan received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering, with high distinction, from the University of Kentucky College of Engineering. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1983. After graduation, he was an adjunct professor at the College of Law for two years. He has also served two terms as an elected council member on the Lexington‑Fayette Urban County Council and has served as an administrative law judge for the Cabinet for Health and Human Resources.
