Thomas G. Freeman II, is Of Counsel in the Clarksburg, West Virginia, office of Jackson Kelly PLLC. The primary focus of his practice is sophisticated trust, estate and business succession planning. Mr. Freeman received a Bachelor of Science in accounting, cum laude, from West Virginia University in 1969. In 1973, he obtained a Juris Doctor from the West Virginia University College of Law, where he was a member of the Board of Editors of the West Virginia Law Review. Mr. Freeman began his legal career with the Firm (then Jackson, Kelly, Holt & O' Farrell), in 1973 and later chaired the Firm's Tax Department and was the head of the Estates and Trusts Practice Group.
During his long tenure with Jackson Kelly, Mr. Freeman gained national recognition, being listed in Woodward/White's The Best Lawyers in America® under Trusts & Estates beginning in 1989 and was elected a Fellow of both the American College of Tax Counsel and of the prestigious American College of Trusts & Estate Counsel. He is a frequent lecturer on estate, trust and tax-related subjects and has written numerous legal education monographs and articles.
At the end of 2002, Mr. Freeman retired from Jackson Kelly and the practice of law. He subsequently associated with the Dobbs Financial Group and served as the Director of Estate and Business Planning and an investment advisor representative of Northwestern Mutual Investment Services. In 2007, Mr. Freeman and his family moved to Morgantown, West Virginia, and he then rejoined Jackson Kelly PLLC.
