Chacey R. Ford is a Member in Jackson Kelly's Health Care and Finance and Commercial Law Practice Groups. Ms. Ford’s practice includes health care and commercial law, with a focus on health care regulatory and transactional law, health care litigation, commercial litigation, equine law, and bankruptcy law and creditors’ rights.

Ms. Ford’s health care practice includes representing and advising clients regarding corporate matters and licensure, as well as representing clients in certificate of need and other regulatory proceedings. Her practice also includes advising clients regarding billing, reimbursement, and compliance matters. Ms. Ford also has experience representing companies in the health care industry in complex litigation across the country. She has represented multiple types of providers in litigation, including physicians, hospitals, and national long-term care providers, such as pharmacy and rehabilitation companies, regarding matters ranging from contractual disputes to medical negligence.

Ms. Ford’s commercial law practice includes advising clients in contractual matters as well as litigation. She has represented a number of different types of clients, including clients in the equine, construction, coal, and oil and gas industries. Her commercial litigation practice includes all areas of civil litigation, including trial and appellate work. She has represented clients in state and federal courts in cases involving commercial fraud, breaches of fiduciary duties, misappropriation of corporate opportunities, and contractual disputes.

In her bankruptcy practice, Ms. Ford regularly represents creditors or other parties in interest in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 proceedings. She also represents clients in preference actions and other litigation stemming from the bankruptcy proceedings, including contesting a debtor’s discharge and defending bankruptcy fiduciaries.

Growing up with horses, Ms. Ford is uniquely knowledgeable in equine matters. Her husband is actively involved in the Thoroughbred industry in the United States and Europe. She understands the day-to-day issues facing the small farm owner as well as the larger operations. She regularly attends the public auctions and also understands the issues affecting the consignors and veterinarians. She has worked on matters for equine clients involving a number of issues ranging from purchases at public auction to equine insurance claims.

Ms. Ford received her Bachelor of Arts in political science, with a minor in economics, from Colorado State University in 2002, cum laude. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2005. She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the Kentucky Academy of Hospital Attorneys.
