Danielle M. Waltz is a Member practicing in the Commercial Law Practice Group and the Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs Practice Group in the Firm's Charleston office. Ms. Waltz has wide legal experience, including litigating commercial banking cases and handling complex multi-party construction matters. Ms. Waltz also has extensive experience in government relations for a wide array of local, state and national business clients.

Ms. Waltz has published and lectured on construction matters, including the 2009 Defense Research Institute Desk Reference on West Virginia. She is extensively involved in the Defense Research Institute Construction Law Group, where she is a member of the National Steering Committee, and was the 2014 National Seminar Chair.

Specific examples of Ms. Waltz's construction law experience include:

  • Represented architect in wrongful death case arising out of alleged improper design of highway system
  • Represented architect in moisture intrusion case at multi-million dollar ski resort
  • Provided counsel to project leader on $50 million dollar construction project
  • Represented contractor on failure to pay claim arising out of restaurant builds in West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio
  • Monitored West Virginia construction legislation for various clients
  • Represented excavator in claim by homeowner for defects in its property
  • Represented architect in negligent design matter arising from injury at health care facility
  • Spoke to group of construction accountants on mechanic's lien issues

Ms. Waltz is well versed in West Virginia legislative and administrative matters and has represented and appeared before several state agencies. She is a member of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Committee, the YWCA Public Policy Committee and the ABCWV Legislative Committee.

Ms. Waltz earned a Juris Doctor from West Virginia University, where she was the Symposium Editor for the West Virginia Law Review, a recipient of the Dennis and Louise Sharp Scholarship and a member of the Marlyn Lugar Trial Association Traveling Team. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics, cum laude, from West Virginia University in 2003. She was a West Virginia University Foundation Scholar, a National Merit Scholar and a recipient of the Robert C. Byrd scholarship.
