Ross J. Watzman is Counsel in the Firm’s Denver, Colorado, office practicing with the Occupational Safety and Health Practice Group. Mr. Watzman focuses his practice on Occupational Safety and Health and Employment Law. He advises clients on a wide range of issues including compliance with health and safety laws and regulations at the federal and state levels. He frequently counsels clients facing government investigations. Mr. Watzman has experience with administrative appeals, complex litigation, and settlement negotiations. He often relies on and leverages from his engineering background to understand and address client issues.

Select Representative Experience:

  • Represented employers in Occupational Safety and Health Administration ("OSHA") and Mine Safety and Health Administration ("MSHA") fatality and accident investigations
  • Represented employers in discrimination investigations and corresponding litigation under the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act ("Mine Act"), Occupational Safety and Health Act ("OSH Act"), and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC")
  • Represented employers in enforcement actions under the Mine Act and OSH Act
  • Represented construction company regarding allegations of improper guarding and failure to utilize fall protection
  • Represented mine operators in jurisdiction disputes between OSHA and MSHA
  • Represented mines against Section 103(k) mine closure orders and Section 110(c) personal liability charges
  • Represented large and small business entities and related national trade associations in connection with legislative, regulatory and public affairs issues

Mr. Watzman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biological resource engineering from the University of Maryland in 2007. He then received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2011.
