Jay E. Ingle is a Member in the Firm’s Lexington, Kentucky, office.  He is the Assistant Leader of the Health Care and Finance Practice Group.  Mr. Ingle’s practice areas include business law and civil litigation, with a focus on commercial litigation, employment law, equine law, health law and medical malpractice.  He also regularly advises clients on various governmental, legislative and regulatory matters.

Mr. Ingle's commercial litigation practice includes all areas of civil litigation. He has represented clients in state and federal courts in cases involving commercial fraud, breaches of fiduciary duties, restrictive covenants, misappropriation of trade secrets and corporate opportunities, and contractual disputes.

In the employment law area, Mr. Ingle has helped businesses of all sizes with a wide range of employment issues, including policies and handbooks, employee discipline and discharge, civil rights investigations and litigation, retaliation and wrongful discharge claims, FMLA, ADA, drug and alcohol testing, employee monitoring and privacy questions, employment and non-compete agreements, wage and hour issues, and Department of Labor audits.

Mr. Ingle's health care practice includes representing hospitals and physicians in operational issues, regulatory compliance, and litigation. He has defended hospitals and physicians in all stages of litigation, including jury trials. He has also provided legal advice related to reimbursement issues, regulatory compliance, HIPAA, HITECH, OIG investigations, medical staff bylaws, policies and practices, provider agreements, peer review, licensure board proceedings, and disciplinary matters.

In the area of equine law, Mr. Ingle has represented racetracks, horse farms, owners, and trade associations relating to various breeds, including thoroughbred, standardbred, quarter horse, and saddlebred horses. He has provided legal services related to gaming, legislative and regulatory initiatives, operational issues for farms, wage and hour audits, syndicate agreements, and contractual disputes both in and outside of litigation.

Prior to joining Jackson Kelly, Mr. Ingle attended the University of Kentucky for his undergraduate and graduate work.  He received a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and political science in 1993, a Master of Public Administration from the University's Martin School in 1997 and his Juris Doctor from the College of Law in 1997.

Outside of work, Mr. Ingle is active in the business community, working with Commerce Lexington and currently serving on its Public Policy Council and advising on several political campaigns and public issues.  His civic involvement includes serving on the board of the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation and recently serving as President of the New Opportunity School for Women and on the board of Ashland Terrace, a non-profit retirement home.  He is active at Southern Hills United Methodist Church as well, where he currently serves as Chair of the Staff and Pastor Relations Committee.
