Michael M. Fisher is a Member and Chair of the Firm's Litigation Practice Group. He has extensive civil and criminal trial experience in federal and state courts. Mr. Fisher has also argued numerous appellate cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from West Virginia University in 1983. In 1986, he obtained a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from New York Law School and received the American Jurisprudence Award for Excellence in Agency and Partnership. In 1990, Mr. Fisher became an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia, engaging in the prosecution of organized crime, white collar crime and major fraud. In 1991, he received the Department of Justice Special Achievement Award.

Mr. Fisher is admitted to the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia. Over the years, Mr. Fisher has also been a member of the West Virginia State Bar, the West Virginia State Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia, the Kanawha County Bar Association, the Cabell County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Mr. Fisher served as a member of the Board of Governors for the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia from 2002-2007. He also has served as an officer of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia from 2003 through 2007 and acted as the President of the organization from 2006 through 2007. As President, Mr. Fisher received the DRI Exceptional Performance Citation. Mr. Fisher has been recognized by Super Lawyers (2008-2009 and 2013-2015). He has been further recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® over the last several years.
