Patrick Wayne Dennison, a native of Southwestern Pennsylvania, is a Member with Jackson Kelly PLLC, practicing in the Occupational Safety and Health Practice Group and the Coal and Oil and Gas Industry Groups in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mr. Dennison's practice focuses primarily on the representation of companies challenging enforcement by the Mine Safety and Health Administration and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Mr. Dennison's experience includes defending companies in proceedings before administrative law judges and in matters ranging from pre-trial discovery up through appeals to the United States Court of Appeals. Mr. Dennison also counsels clients in a variety of industries, including coal mining, metal and non-metal mining, construction, stone, sand and gravel operations. In addition, Mr. Dennison’s experience extends to labor and employment issues, including representing employers in discrimination cases.

Mr. Dennison has represented companies in administrative hearings in Alabama, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He has also represented mining clients during investigations of serious accidents and has provided counsel to operators and miners during investigations pertaining to alleged violations of Sections 103(a), 105 and 110 of the Mine Act. Mr. Dennison has participated in appellate litigation before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, Third, Fourth, Seventh, Eighth, Tenth and Eleventh Circuits.

Mr. Dennison also provides companies with training in the field of safety and health and employment-related matters. Mr. Dennison has presented at the Pennsylvania Coal Alliance/Pittsburgh Coal Mining Institute of America conference and the West Virginia Coal Mining Institute’s fall meeting.

Mr. Dennison is licensed to practice law in both Florida and Pennsylvania and, prior to joining Jackson Kelly PLLC, he worked for a law firm in Jacksonville, Florida, handling complex insurance coverage disputes. Mr. Dennison’s experience prior to law school also includes employment in the general construction and coal industries.
