Jackson Kelly PLLC is seeking a full time Accounting Manager to join our team! The Accounting Manager is responsible for administration of our accounting operations and services as well as the associated support staff. Ideal candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration field, 8+ years of related experience, and a Certified Public Accountant designation is preferred. Candidates must also possess excellent management and supervisory skills, the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, organizational and time management skills and be proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Supervisory Responsibilities include:

-Managing accounting staff. Responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, benefits, budget preparation, and client matter.

-Recruiting and hiring accounting staff.

-Conducting performance evaluations.

-Coordinating training programs for new staff and identifying training needs for current staff.

-Financial Systems – maintains the chart of accounts, serves as the system hub for the financial accounting software, time and billing, and financial reporting. Makes recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer of any changes to procedures or operations.

-Financial Reporting – oversees accuracy and distribution of all financial reports, including; Balance Sheet, Income Statements, Member Earnings, Member Personal Statements, Management Reports, and other reports as requested by the Managing Member and/or Assistant Managing Member or Chief Financial Officer.

-Bank Liaison –Works with the bank to resolve any issue concerning checks or deposits, discusses resolution with Chief Financial Officer.

-Reviews all expense reports for items that may appear out of line with normal processing instructions.

-Reviews checks for accuracy prior to distribution for signature.

-Reviews all reconciliations.

-Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; helps with the tax returns.

-Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for annual external audit.

-Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.

-Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

-Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess a keen attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a high level of organization while working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. Respect for confidentiality, initiative, and time management skills are also essential. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), and a paralegal and/or legal research certification/coursework is preferred. Bachelor's Degree or one to two years of related experience is required.

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree and 1-2 years of previous paralegal experience is preferred. Title work and title insurance experience required.

Job responsibilities include a blend of secretarial and paralegal duties to support our healthcare litigation practice group. The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills, the ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously, attention to detail and proofreading skills, and proficiency with MS Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, redlining documents). Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or 1-2 years of recent legal experience.

In addition, qualified candidates will be highly skilled in the following areas:

  • E-discovery

  • E-filing documents with state and federal courts
