By: Lindsay D. Petrosky

The U.S. Department of Health and Humans Services (HHS) through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded more than $1.3 billion to 1,387 HRSA funded health centers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. “HRSA-funded health centers are part of the backbone of our nation’s health care system, serving 1 in 12 people nationwide,” stated Tom Engels, HRSA Administrator. This much needed funding will serve to support health centers’ ability to triage, prevent, diagnose and treat COVID-19. Additionally, the funding may also be utilized to help maintain and increase capacity and staff. For further details see the press release issued by HHS and HRSA today. To find the closest health center near you, you may find it by searching findahealthcerter.hrsa.gov. Individuals should contact their local health center to confirm that they have COVID-19 testing capability before presenting for care.
