Derrick L. Maultsby, Jr. is an Associate practicing in the Business Law, Intellectual Property & Licensing, and Tech & Data practice groups, focusing primarily on technology, data privacy, corporate compliance, corporate consultation, and sports & entertainment. He practices out of the Firm's office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Derrick has a strong network in the tech sector, both in the Pittsburgh area and nationally, which enables him to connect many individuals and businesses in that sector with an emphasis on growth and relationship building for his clients. Derrick has guided numerous companies through compliance under data privacy laws and emerging technology regulations.
Derrick publishes and speaks at conferences and events on data privacy and technology. He co-founded the “Tech Legal Clinic” and the “Pittsburgh Tech & Data Summit.” Derrick also helps lead Jackson Kelly’s efforts in diversity and inclusion, creating and organizing the Firm’s “In My Shoes” speaker series, which explores diversity in the workplace, and leading in the conception and administration of the Firm’s Pro Bono clinic for black businesses and entrepreneurs.
Derrick is a recent graduate of the Duquesne University School of Law. Prior to law school, Derrick was a member of the Jackson State University football team before ultimately receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Derrick is a Pittsburgh native and is passionate about giving back to black youth in the region. One way he accomplishes this is through volunteering with the local chapter of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc.
