Matthew R. Miller is an Associate practicing with the Oil and Gas and Energy industry groups, focusing primarily on general litigation. He practices out of the Firm's office in Morgantown, West Virginia.
After a decade of working in the oil and gas industry across Appalachia, Matt decided to pursue his childhood dream of becoming an attorney. He began his industry experience kicking rocks with landowners to stay ahead of multiple rigs drilling Marcellus Shale wells and went on to become a Certified Professional Landman by the AAPL and to develop extensive experience in due diligence, acquisitions, permitting, curative title work, abstracting, and negotiations. Matt's ability to connect with people is one of the traits that makes him a great litigator. It also made him a perfect candidate to serve on the City of Morgantown Human Rights Commission.
Matt earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, public policy and administration, with a minor in economics, from West Virginia University. He then earned a Master of Business Administration from Waynesburg University. Matt earned his Juris Doctor, Order of the Coif, from West Virginia University College of Law. Matt also learned a great deal as a Boy Scout, where he earned the rank of Eagle and attained the Vigil Honor within the Order of the Arrow.
A native of Charleston, Matt now lives in Morgantown with his wife and young children. When he is not working or trying to corral his kids, Matt enjoys exploring the woods with his family, cooking, reading, and watching Mountaineer sports. Ever the optimist, Matt also remains a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
