The Mine Safety and Health Administration (“MSHA”) is expected to issue extensions to complete annual refresher training.  While we await formal guidance, it is expected that 30-day extensions will be granted for mine operators to meet the annual refresher training expiration dates.  It is anticipated that the operators seeking extensions will need to provide a plan to make up the training to MSHA and keep the local MSHA leadership apprised.  MSHA is not expected to waive requirements for comprehensive new and experienced miner training under Parts 48 and 46, for site-specific, or for new task training.

Stay tuned for more from MSHA.
