Bio
Johnnie is an accomplished, experienced, and mainstay in the West Virginia legal world. With nearly 4 decades of experience, there is very little he hasn’t seen or has knowledge of when it comes to transactional law, having been involved in the sale or purchase of over 60 dealerships in the Eastern United States. He may best be known for his legal experience in the auto industry. He serves as General Counsel to the West Virginia Automobile and Truck Dealers Association and the West Virginia Housing Institute, providing ongoing advice on compliance, consumer issues, forms, and legislative matters. He has been the author of many consumer laws and the West Virginia Motor Vehicle Dealer Franchise Law.
An award-winning attorney, Johnnie is not just a transactional attorney. He brings a wealth of litigation experience, too, having been lead counsel in over 80 trials. He has handled complex litigation, employment, dealership, and franchise matters, consumer litigation, compliance counseling, municipal representation, legislative drafting and support, and industry advocacy. Recognized for strategic judgment, courtroom experience, long-standing client relationships, and leadership within both firm governance and national legal organizations.
He is also active in the local community, serving as the city attorney for the city of Nitro, West Virginia, a role he has held since 2013. Johnnie has served as President of the Greater Sissonville Development Council for the past 15 years, and also serves on the Board of the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicle Dealer Advisory Board and the West Virginia Division of Labor Manufactured Housing Safety and Construction Standards Board.
